How to By-Pass a broken circuit board, to get cooling. |

Ok, how to bypass a circuit board that is fried. In order to
get cold air, while waiting on the part.
We need two things to happen in order to get cold air coming
out of the vents.
First of all the condenser needs to turn on.
Second, we need the blower motor on.
Assuming you have line power coming into the unit, follow
step 1.
Step 1. Check to verify that the transformer is supplying 24
volts. If it is then move to step two. If you do not replace transformer, you
may need to wire the transformer directly to the line power, depending on how
the board fried. Once you have 24 volts, move to step two.
Step 2. Connect one side of the 24 volt wiring from
transformer to the wire going out to one side of the 24v contactor, located
inside the outside ac condenser. I suggest using the blue wire, if there is
one.
Step 3. Now connect the other side of 24 volts from
transformer to the red wire and make sure the other end goes to the R terminal
in the thermostat.
Step 4. Now make sure the other side of the contactor in the
air conditioner goes inside to the thermostats Y terminal. I would suggest
using the yellow wire. This should already be that way however, if not make it
that way.
Step 5 .Wire the blower motor directly to the high volt, line in, power. That will have the blower motor running all the time, but at least the house is cold until you come back with the proper control board. |
